A Community Benefit Concert, April 27, 2012
Such a great night! Brent Sasaki, Director of Corporate Sponsorships for the Sacramento Kings, asked me to volunteer at the Benefit Concert for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sacramento in celebration of 50 years of service. It was such a great experience. I did multiple tasks throughout the night, and gained so much knowledge while doing it.
The evening started out with an exclusive VIP reception for the corporate sponsors, which included opportunities to meet Sacramento Kings legends, players, coaches, and dancers. During the reception, I assisted the photographer with the organization of groups taking pictures with The Greats and current players, some of which included: Scott Pollard, Jason Thompson, and Isaiah Thomas. That in its self, was an amazing experience. I was just feet away from these players, assisting them, the guests, and the photographers in a smooth environment.
Directly after the reception, a live auction was held to benefit the Sacramento Kings partnering charity, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sacramento. In assisting the auctioneer, I was a spotter for specific auction items. I made sure the correct bidder was awarded the auction item and the winning price, all in a friendly environment. It was great fun to be around multiple people, all whom were excited to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sister of Sacramento. The partnering charity raised $30,000 on the night of the Benefit Auction.
To conclude the night, we were able to enjoy the entertainment by Grammy Award-winning band Blues Traveler. It was an outstanding experience, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I owe a huge thanks to Brent for helping me out within the sports industry.
